Background

Playrix, the #1 mobile game publisher in Europe, was founded in 2004. With an impressive collection of record-breaking titles, they put the player first and since 2011 have focused on creating free-to-play games. Their titles Gardenscapes, Township, Homescapes, and Fishdom consistently rank in the top 50 grossing apps worldwide.

Challenge

A common challenge with every incentivized network Playrix worked with was maintaining ROAS goals and KPIs while sustaining substantial growth. Playrix wants to keep players in the game for as long as possible, even after the end of the reward flow. Therefore, Playrix and exmox partnered together to help scale their titles while generating long-term retention and ROAS results.

Strategy

Exmox’s extensive experience with crafting custom reward flows, designed to engage the user beyond finishing the reward flow, was the perfect starting point to support Playrix in their impressive growth. While early indicators like D7 and D14 results are useful, they don’t always ensure continued growth in later periods such as D30 and D60. Therefore, it was crucial for exmox to adopt a strategic approach for long-term user engagement that would support Playrix in breaking even on their ad spend within the desired timeframe and beyond.

For each title, the account management team created an individual reward flow and approach based on the app’s setup and KPIs to ensure the best results.

At exmox, reward flows are created based on a combination of many years of experience in the CPE space and data-driven insights. By integrating best practices, strategic planning, and optimization, sustainable long-term user growth can be achieved. Regularly analyzing D30, D60, and earlier cohorts allowed exmox to find the optimal reward flow to maximize long-term results. This approach resulted in a successful testing period, and all apps were launched on all exmox reward platforms and geos.

Results

The success of the partnership between Playrix and exmox was evident from the start, with Playrix launching 4 of their flagship titles with exmox in all geos and on both Android and iOS in just a 2 month period. 

Exmox was able to contribute significantly to all titles, generating over 3k installs a day for individual titles. Throughout the scaling process, exmox overachieved the ROAS goals monthly.

Playrix’s D30 ROAS goals were doubled on iOS for Gardenscapes.

Additionally, the combination of overachieving on ROAS while sustaining a healthy revenue per impression (RPI) contributed to exmox becoming Playrix’s #1 rewarded network in Germany and #3 rewarded network in the U.S.

Background

Since its founding in 2012, Bagelcode has become a major mobile games company in the global gaming market. With teams composed of industry experts and offices in Seoul, Tel Aviv, Dnipro, and Hanoi, Bagelcode has built an impressive roster of games. Bagelcode’s most notable apps are in the social casino genre, with Club Vegas Slots and Cash Billionaire achieving over 40 million downloads combined.

Challenge

Bagelcode sought expansive volume growth for its social casino games while simultaneously boosting ROAS and retention rates. With custom reward funnels and highly engaged users, exmox’s app discovery platforms proved to be the perfect solution for this challenge.

Strategy/Solution

A common challenge with rewarded engagement campaigns is sustaining growth beyond D7 and D14. That’s why it was crucial for the exmox team to create a reward flow that would not only deliver the right results short-term, but also ensure long-term user engagement.

In order to establish the best setup for success, the account management team handcrafted a customized reward flow for each title. 

Exmox launched these strategic campaigns across its app discovery platforms in a variety of geos. The targeted initiatives were carefully refined to amplify ROAS long-term while driving substantial revenue growth.

Results

Bagelcode’s titles ended up experiencing a significant surge in volume thanks to exmox’s platforms, which have large communities of social casino game enthusiasts.

From Q3 ’23 to Q4 ’23, Bagelcode’s titles grew threefold in volume, followed by another remarkable doubling of volume between Q4 ’23 and Q1 ’24 – all while exceeding ROAS goals.

During Q1 ’23 alone, Bagelcode tripled its monthly volume in DACH, with exmox’s platforms contributing to half of this achievement. On average, exmox is 140% above Bagelcode’s D30 ROAS goals on iOS.

 

Exmox continues to be a major partner in Bagelcode’s advertising strategy, launching Cash Billionaire following the success with Club Vegas Slots.

Mad Brain Games is a leading casual game company in free-to-play games, with their most notable title ranking high in the charts of Scrabble-style gaming: Word Farm Adventure. With over 5 million downloads to date, Word Farm Adventure continues to appeal to adults and kids with its fun, adventurous, and challenging journey. 

Challenge

Mad Brain Games and exmox partnered together to increase retention rates on Word Farm Adventure. User retention rates are an important KPI for Mad Brain Games since they are dedicated to only releasing free-to-play apps – and their monetization model relies mainly on in-app-ads revenue.

Strategy/Solution

In order to support Mad Brain Games with achieving higher retention rates, exmox developed a customized reward flow for Word Farm Adventure. Users were kept engaged by lightly incentivizing them in DACH, the U.S., and the U.K. on both Android and iOS. 

Following high conversion rates on the deepest level the campaigns offered, the strategy was further optimized to extend the flow to a deeper level. This optimization helped exmox increase long-term retention and user’s engagement on Word Farm Adventures. Thanks to Mad Brain Games’ transparency with data, exmox’s Account Management team leveraged this data and was able to improve the reward flow and overall conversion and retention rates. 

Results

Exmox was able to exceed the KPIs of Mad Brain Games, with the long-term retention rates from our rewarded play apps being one of their highest performing campaigns.

Mad Brain Games exceeded their goals and generated the needed payback 3x faster compared to other competitive networks. 

Exmox continues to be Mad Brain Games’ leading choice for increasing retention rates, being one of the highest ranked networks in terms of retention rates and driving overall higher ad revenue for Mad Brain Games.

Word Farm Adventure’s D1 retention rates ended up averaging over 25% higher than the global gaming average retention rate, and D7 rates averaged 20% higher.*

Due to the success Mad Brain Games experienced using exmox’s rewarded engagement platforms, the scaling process continues in existing geos and a new title was launched on exmox’s platforms, Word Madness.

37GAMES, one of China’s top gaming companies and part of 37 Interactive Entertainment, publishes instant-hit games spanning a wide array of genres. One of their most popular titles, Puzzles & Survival, blended fantasy storylines and match-3 strategy to create a one of a kind game that reached over 20 million installs. Challenge

Building on the fantasy and strategy match-3 components of Puzzles & Survival, 37GAMES released a captivating spin-off in late 2022 – Puzzles & Chaos: Frozen Castle. Recognizing the immense potential for growth while maintaining ROAS, 37GAMES strategically partnered with exmox to leverage the vast scale opportunities offered by our three rewarded engagement platforms.

Strategy

Exmox launched Puzzles & Chaos: Frozen Castle on both Android and iOS in DACH and the United States. The title was featured prominently with a high placement and attractive reward distribution on all exmox titles. Following analysis to find the ideal balance between optimal placement and enticing rewards, exmox expanded its campaign reach to include the United Kingdom and Canada. 

Results

Just four months into the campaign, all geos and both Android and iOS delivered huge increases in volume. Puzzles & Chaos became an instant success with exmox’s rewarded engagement platforms, quickly becoming a fan favorite.

From October 2023 to January 2024, overall volumes delivered by exmox increased by almost 400%.

In particular, the US saw the largest increase in installs, with over 650% volume growth. Germany, one of exmox’s largest user acquisition geos, saw such significant growth that exmox became 37GAMES biggest partner in DACH. In the United States, exmox is 37GAMES’s 3rd biggest partner. 

Following the successful scaling of Puzzles & Chaos’ user base, 37GAMES launched a new title in January 2024 with exmox, Nobody’s Adventure Chop-Chop.

Unlocking the Puzzle: How Candivore improved long-term ROAS and ARPU using exmox’s rewarded engagement platforms

 

Background

Candivore, the Tel Aviv-based mobile game developer founded in 2017, gained widespread recognition for its groundbreaking title, Match Masters. The first of its kind, Match Masters is a multiplayer, competitive Match-3 puzzle game that enjoyed instant success in the global mobile gaming community and boasts over 50 million downloads today.

Challenge

While user acquisition proved to be no problem for Candivore, they encountered a common challenge for mobile games acquiring users through offerwall and rewarded engagement platforms. Due to the nature of these ad formats, players start out very engaged to earn the rewards but developers are soon faced with a drop off after the users aren’t rewarded as consistently anymore.

Solution

Utilizing a multi-layered approach, exmox was able to significantly scale the user base of Match Masters in tier 1 geos while improving long-term performance. The results are based on several pillars that provided the foundation for the success. 

Unlike most rewarded engagement formats, exmox designs custom reward flows for users. Combining a deep understanding of user behavior and of the Match-3 genre, a reward flow was created in which users are gently incentivized for playing while simultaneously encouraging a habit of playing long-term.

Results

With the help of customized reward flows that focused on maximizing ROAS and retaining users long term, Candivore noticed a sustained upward trend in ROAS, ARPU, and retention rates through exmox’s platforms. At days 7 and 30, retention rates continued improving and installs were on the rise. 

In the first six months after launch, scale increased by 20%+ month-over-month. Exmox’s user acquisition solution supported Match Masters to the point of becoming Candivore’s biggest channel in Germany on iOS. Additionally, exmox is Candivore’s second biggest channel worldwide on iOS. 

After a 66% increase in installs in just 2 months, Germany quickly grew to become the 2nd largest geo for all app installs worldwide.
