GAMING

Industry:

Netflix games president Alain Tascan wants to build a Fortnite-like social gaming experience – and says the streaming giant is different to the entertainment firms that have given up on gaming when the going gets tough.

Scopely has confirmed that it is to acquire Niantic’s games arm for $3.5bn. The deal includes flagship game Pokémon Go, plus Capcom collab Monster Hunter Now and Pikmin Bloom, a game made in partnership with Nintendo.

Paxie Games was acquired by DoubleU Games in a $27 million deal, strengthening its global expansion strategy.

AppLovin plans to sell its games unit to Tripledot Studios in a $900 million deal.

Games:

Zynga is shutting down arena shooter Star Wars: Hunters, having launched the title worldwide in June 2024. 

Monster Hunter Wilds is the best-selling game of 2025 in the US so far.

Funplus launches DC: Dark Legion on mobile and PC.
